Brave Eduardo Was Originally Designed As A Horror Game
There is something that people like about seeing an adorable and cute thing sitting next to a body horror-inspired monster. While we scaled back everything during Minefaire 2019, the audience of PAX South 2020 URGED us to return the horror aspect to the game. We’ve decided to keep the scary part in the game but doing so subtly. We believe if you can find clues of what is going on when you give the background another glance, the discovery will give the game some weight.
For Fans of Hollow Knight and Breath of the Wild.
During the very beginning phases of Brave Eduardo, Dhruv was absolutely entranced by the flawless combat system of Hollow Knight. As a result (and much argument with John), Dhruv spent a lot of time in making the combat feel good. We also have cooking, weather, and various dungeons inspired by Legend of Zelda, Breath of the Wild.
A Card Game within the RPG
I don’t know what it is, but we always try to cram so many “games” into our projects. We think what makes a good RPG (i.e. Knights of the Old Republic, Witcher, Skyrim…etc) is always the world. What the citizens do for entertainment is a big part of it. With this excuse in mind, John embarked on a journey to draw 100 cards and he completed his trek on the very last day of 2019.
Living World
Our approach to Brave Eduardo’s world is character focused. While the environment is important, this Victorian Era inspired world is heavily driven by ambitious businessman, dutiful Knights, contentious monarchy system, and beings beyond people’s (Bear’s) comprehension. There is an anxious class struggle between Spidz and Bears, manipulated by well-connected individuals from both sides.
An Amazing Composer
You can see a little bit of the music in the trailer above, but we aren’t done with it yet. Our musician is working hard on making a great theme and sound effects for the game. One thing we can always be sure of is an amazing OST (just look at our other games)! It is all cause of Matt, our amazing composer.
